Why Matarus?

We chose the name Matarus to reflect what our organization has become, and where we believe math education is headed.

Our roots are in tutoring. For years, we worked directly with students and families, helping learners build confidence, master challenging concepts, and achieve ambitious academic goals. Along the way, we learned something important: great math education is never one-size-fits-all.

Every student is different. Every classroom is different. Every educator brings unique strengths. The future of learning isn't about forcing everyone into the same path, it's about providing the tools, insights, and support needed to help each learner succeed in their own way.

As our vision expanded beyond direct tutoring, we needed a name that could grow with it.

The beginning of the name, "Mat," reflects our foundation in mathematics. Mathematics is more than a subject; it is a language of logic, problem-solving, creativity, and discovery. It is one of the most powerful gateways to future opportunities in STEM fields; science, technology, engineering, medicine, finance, and any fields that require strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The rest of the name was chosen to create something broader than a tutoring company. Matarus has a timeless, academic quality that feels equally at home supporting a student, empowering a tutor, or helping a classroom teacher reach every learner more effectively.

Today, Matarus serves multiple parts of the math education community. We continue to support students directly through tutoring and enrichment. We help independent tutors build and grow successful educational businesses. We provide teachers with tools that make differentiated instruction easier and more effective in the classroom. And we help homeschool parents create a world class math education experience at home. We create technology that helps connect great teaching with great learning.

The name Matarus represents that larger mission: strengthening math education by supporting the people who make it possible.

The future of math education is not built by software alone, nor by educators working in isolation. It is built when students, parents, tutors, teachers, and technology work together to help every learner reach their potential.

That is what Matarus stands for.
