In familiar whole-number situations involving addition, subtraction, equal groups, length, time, or money, the learner distinguishes sufficient from insufficient information, recognizes when different missing values could lead to different answers, and represents the relationships with drawings, equations, or number lines; formal algebraic generalization and complex multistep cases are beyond this scope.
When you solve a word problem, first find what the question is asking for. Then check whether the problem gives you all the information needed to find that answer.
Example:
Mia has some stickers. She gives stickers to her friend. How many stickers does Mia have left?
