To identify the hundreds place, start at the right and count three positions:

• Ones: 1st position
• Tens: 2nd position
• Hundreds: 3rd position

Example: Find the hundreds digit and its value in $407$.

1. Start on the right:

   • $7$ is in the ones place.
   • $0$ is in the tens place.
   • $4$ is in the hundreds place.

2. The hundreds digit is $4$.

3. Its value is $4$ groups of $100$:

$$4 \times 100 = 400$$

So, in $407$, the hundreds digit is $4$, and its value is $400$.
