Skill: Solve joining addition problems

A joining addition problem starts with an amount and adds more to it.

Example:
Mia has 27 stickers. Her friend gives her 15 more stickers. How many stickers does Mia have now?

1. Find the starting amount: $27$ stickers.

2. Find the amount added: $15$ stickers.

3. Write an addition equation:

$$27+15=\Box$$

4. Add the ones: $7+5=12$. Write $2$ ones and regroup $1$ ten.

5. Add the tens: $2+1+1=4$ tens.

6. The total is:

$$27+15=42$$

Mia has 42 stickers now. The total is the amount she started with plus the amount that was added.
