Skill: Write numbers in word form

To write a number in word form, look at each place-value digit:

• The first digit tells the hundreds.
• The second digit tells the tens.
• The third digit tells the ones.

Example: Write $306$ in word form.

1. The $3$ is in the hundreds place: three hundred.
2. The $0$ is in the tens place, so there are no tens to name.
3. The $6$ is in the ones place: six.
4. Put the words together:

$$306 = \text{three hundred six}$$

Remember: A zero place is not named. So, $306$ is three hundred six, not “three hundred zero six.”
