Look at one group. It has 10 blocks.
Count: 10
Count the second group by adding another 10.
Count: 20
Count the third group by adding another 10.
Count: 30
Count the fourth group by adding another 10.
Count: 40
So, there are 4 groups, and there are 40 blocks in all.
