Skill: Measure capacity with equal scoops

To measure a container’s capacity, use the same scoop each time.

1. Fill the scoop to the same level.
2. Pour it into the container.
3. Keep counting the scoops until the container is full.
4. The number of scoops tells how much the container holds.

Example

A small bowl is filled with sand using the same scoop.

• Scoop 1: pour it in.
• Scoop 2: pour it in.
• Scoop 3: pour it in.
• Scoop 4: pour it in.

The bowl is now full.

So, the bowl’s capacity is 4 scoops.

The scoop must stay the same size, and each scoop should be filled to the same level.
