Use inside and outside

Inside and outside describe an object’s location relative to a bounded region or container: an object is inside when it lies within the boundary and outside when it lies beyond it. This understanding applies to familiar objects and simple diagrams, supports precise spatial language, and distinguishes location from size or physical closeness; an object touching the boundary may be identified separately when relevant.
