Skill: Convert hundredths fractions to decimals

A denominator of $(100)$ means hundredths. To write a fraction with denominator $(100)$ as a decimal:

1. Write $(0.)$
2. Use the numerator as the two digits after the decimal point.
3. Add a zero if the numerator has only one digit.

Example: Convert $\frac{5}{100}$ to a decimal.

• The denominator is $(100)$, so we need two digits after the decimal point.
• The numerator is $5$. Write it as $(05)$ to fill both places.
• Therefore,

$$\frac{5}{100}=0.05$$

The zero is important: $(0.05)$ means five hundredths, while $(0.5)$ means five tenths.
