Elapsed time within an hour is the duration between a starting time and an ending time when the interval is less than 60 minutes, including intervals that cross an hour boundary. The relationship hour minutes is interpreted through clock faces, digital times, or minute number lines by counting forward or decomposing minutes, rather than subtracting clock labels as ordinary numbers; multi-hour intervals and more complex time conversions are outside this scope.
Elapsed time is how long something lasts from a start time to an end time. When the time is less than 1 hour, count the minutes forward. Remember:
Example: A movie starts at 4:48 and ends at 5:12. How long is the movie?
Count from 4:48 to 5:00:
There are minutes.
Count from 5:00 to 5:12:
There are minutes.
Add the two parts:
The elapsed time is 24 minutes.
