To identify a digit’s place value:

1. Find the digit in the whole number.
2. Count its position from the right:
   • ones
   • tens
   • hundreds
   • thousands
   • ten-thousands
   • hundred-thousands
   • millions
3. Name the place. The digit’s value is its face value multiplied by that place’s unit.

Example: What is the place value of the digit $8$ in $6,\!482,\!315$?

Count from the right:
